This class is to teach students to use the Writing Process to create longer and more interesting pieces. Students this age are reading chapter books and actually working toward creating a whole novel themselves encourages reading as well as writing. This class is structured as a writer's workshop. Each class begins with instruction and then learners will have time to write. They can ask questions at any time. The last 15 minutes of class will be for students to share their work and get peer review. I will function as a facilitator as students create. Week 1: What will I write about? Pre writing and brainstorming. Discuss genres. Week 2: Drafting Beginning to write the first draft Week 3: Revise as you go...learning to add or subtract from or to the manuscript. Where do you start a new chapter? Week 4: Continues to draft and revise Week 5: Editing will teach students to check spelling and grammar.
