One of my most requested animal drawing lessons is how to draw horses. This class will enhance observation skills and the understanding of proportion, shapes, and forms as we draw the full body of a horse. The difference between sketching and drawing will be discussed and demonstrated throughout the process. We’ll progress from sketching basic shapes to drawing a well-proportioned outline and end with a finished, shaded drawing of an entire horse to create a more dimensional effect. If unicorns are a favorite, why not add that last little detail. Additionally, if there is time at the end of class we can explore where your horses or unicorns will be running and how to create depth and details to include a scene. I will teach how to shade using a regular pencil, but the same techniques can be done with colored pencils for extra flair!
Learning Goals
Students will gain skills in drawing, shading, proportion, and observation.
