In this ongoing class, we'll create a variety of clay sculptures using real pottery techniques such as pinch pots, slab tiles, and coils, along with learning how to attach pieces that actually stay together!

Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Learners will learn clay techniques and terms as they are working with their hands and tools to create 3-dimensional works of art.

We will compare and contrast form and function as they decide if they will be creating a decorative sculpture or a functional vessel.

Learners will make decisions about surface decoration while they build and after it has gone through the drying phase.
Our teachers have been teaching this and similar projects for many years. We all create clay artwork ourselves. Air-dry clay acts in a very similar manner.
Students may have some items that they wish to continue to smooth or paint at the end of any of the class sessions.
Air-Dry Clay (I recommend Crayola or Amaco) Clay Tools: Rolling Pin or some other cylinder that is round and smooth such as a can or plastic cup Plastic Knife Toothpicks Q-tips Small Cup of Water Placemat Rag or paper towel to wipe hands and for easy cleanup
Guidance will be provided through each step of all of the projects.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
