Class Experience

Beginner Level
This IEW class is ideal for students who want to learn unit three of the IEW writing process.

Students learn to take notes by asking questions about a provided source text and following the Story Sequence Chart. We will complete the keyword outline together. Learners will give ideas and practice telling back the text from their notes.

Example topics will vary across subjects and may include the story Belling the Cat, The Crow and the Peacocks, or The Ants and the Grasshoppers. Assignment topics will come from various IEW books I have taught as an accredited IEW instructor.

I will use slides to teach students how to make a keyword outline. After I model what to do, students can practice the skill independently in class as we complete the keyword outline together.

Additionally, students will be assigned one to three paragraphs to write from their keyword outline after class. Learners may submit their paragraphs to me for review.

Students may choose to provide the source text from their assignment.
