1-2 hours per week. Students will be assigned homework to complete after each class. This class will meet twice weekly, and students are expected to complete their homework between meeting days.Assessment
There are no letter grades given for this class. Learners will turn in their homework, and I will provide feedback to them. Learner progress is assessed through the completion of assignments and participation in class. Students will earn points for each assignment.Class Experience
Beginner - Intermediate Level
****This is part two of this course. Students should complete part one before enrolling. In this beginner writing class, students will write about science-themed topics such as insects, inventions, and famous scientists while they learn to write with Structure and Style. Students must be able to type their assignments and turn them in. ***Learners must complete assigned homework. This will include writing and completing paragraphs discussed in class. Students will sometimes have opportunities to present their essays to the class. This is not a graded class; however, students will receive feedback on the assignments they turn in and be given points for each assignment. Learners will need the student book for Wonders of Science Writing Lessons https://iew.com/shop/products/wonders-science-writing-lessons-student-book-only Students will complete the second half of the book in this class. In this class, students will: -Practice summarizing multiple references -Practice inventive writing -Practice using the formal essay model -Practice writing a formal critique and a response to literature -Continue to practice using dress-ups -Continue to practice using sentence openers -Continue to practice using the MLA format -Continue to learn to use new vocabulary I will teach the lesson and model correct note-taking and format. We will work together in class to brainstorm ideas. Students are expected to complete assignments after each class. Students should expect to spend time outside of class completing their assignments. Learners must have completed part one of this course before enrolling.
