I'm a dedicated educator with over a decade of experience teaching IEW. My passion is to make writing engaging and enjoyable for my students, and I strive to bring creativity and interactivity to every lesson.

As a parent of three children, I've had the opportunity to use the IEW program at home and have walked my own kids through the program. This personal experience has given me a unique perspective and deep understanding of the challenges that students and families may face in the writing process.

In my classes, I aim to create a supportive and dynamic learning environment that encourages students to take risks and develop their own unique voices as writers. I believe that with the right guidance and support, every student has the potential to become a skilled and confident writer.

Whether in the classroom or at home, I'm dedicated to making writing a positive and rewarding experience for all students, and I'm excited to share my knowledge and passion with you.
Homework Offered
Each lesson will be accompanied by a corresponding work packet for students. It is recommended that students print out the packet before coming to class. The packet serves as a tool for completing weekly learning assignments. Assignments for Lessons 1 and 2 are expected to take approximately 10-30 minutes each, while assignments for Lessons 3 and 4 may require 20-60 minutes each. Students have the option to submit their completed assignments through the Outschool platform in the "Teacher" tab for feedback.
2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
I'm delighted to review outlines and papers, offering positive feedback. My focus is on assessing whether students are following the process presented in class. It's important to note that I do not correct spelling and grammar. To receive feedback, assignments must be submitted on the Outschool platform under the "Teacher" tab.
Grades Offered
I teach in a systematic step by step format designed to help the most reluctant learner achieve success. I have worked with many students with unique learning needs and my goal is to provide a class that can be adapted as needed.
IEW Unit 1 & 2 lays the foundation for the IEW Method of Outlining and is HIGHLY recommended prior to this class. Additionally, Unit 3 teaches several elements we will reference. Students should be able to read at a 3rd-grade level.
With each lesson, there will be a posted work packet. It is highly encouraged that students print this packet and use it to complete the lessons.

Turning in paper for feedback requires the use of a camera phone or scanner to upload the document to Outschool if the student does not use google docs
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
All content is age-appropriate and hopefully below reading level so the focus can be on writing not difficult content.
Please print out the lesson packets provided.
