Intermediate Level
----------This class uses the updated fourth edition of Robin Hood (Level 3)---------- ***Before taking this class, students must have completed Robin Hood part one*** ***Students will be assigned homework.*** ***Students will need access to Nearpod.com*** Fix It! Grammar: Robin Hood is a fun and engaging way to teach learners English grammar. Students will go sentence by sentence in an ongoing story and hunt for grammar errors, fixing them along the way. Learners will label the parts of each sentence and rewrite the sentences correctly. Students will stay engaged in the process because the story is ongoing and who doesn't want to find out how the story ends? Fix It! Grammar Robin Hood is Level 3 in the series. This course is ideal for students who have already completed level one (The Nose Tree) and level two (Town Mouse and Country Mouse). IEW recommends that all students begin with Level 1, The Nose Tree, as it is the first in a series of books that build upon one another. Fix It! Grammar: Robin Hood builds upon Town Mouse and Country Mouse. Students must have the student book for Fix It! Grammar: Robin Hood. https://iew.com/shop/products/fix-it%E2%84%A2-grammar-level-3-robin-hood-student-book In this class, students will: -review concepts learned in levels one and two -identify and label the parts of speech -continue practicing proper structure and punctuation of a sentence -distinguish main and dependent clauses -distinguish clauses from phrases -correctly use homophones -practice IEW stylistic techniques, including dress-ups and sentence openers -practice comma rules -learn new vocabulary Class time will be spent teaching the new vocabulary, concepts, and directions and reading and correcting the first sentence together. If time allows, we will also complete other sentences in the lesson. Students will be expected to complete any sentences we do not get to during class time as homework. Students are expected to have their books during class. I will use slides and other interactive resources to encourage interaction between the students and myself. Students may also volunteer to read sentences aloud. Students must have completed the following, either in a class or at home: -Fix It! Grammar: The Nose Tree (Level 1) -Town Mouse and Country Mouse (Level 2)
