Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Idioms are a part of our culture and communication. Understanding them is crucial to knowing what a speaker means and being able to correctly use them adds entertainment and variety to content. Through this lesson we will identify what idioms are and identify them in a fun way. We will read "Amelia Bedilia" by Pessy Parish. She is a maid who takes all instructions by her employers literally. We will discuss each idiom individually, contrasting the meanings of the words with the meaning of the idiom. I will also give the students an easy way to remember the definition of idiom. There is no homework. Learners are evaluated through speaking with the teacher and completing the classwork.
