I Survived Book Club | Supporting Reading Comprehension With Historical Fiction

We will be reading the POPULAR "I Survived" books in this ongoing class with a certified, degreed elementary teacher. The teacher will read aloud in class, learners will be asked to take turns reading aloud if they are comfortable with that, and learners will be asked to read a chapter or two in between classes each week. 

The teacher will lead discussions on the events, characters, plot, and setting. The teacher will also ask comprehension questions while reading, teach new vocabulary, and ask learners to respond to text dependent questions. 

**It will take about 4 weeks to complete each book. We will start a new book the first week of each month. I recommend new learners joining the class the first week of the month. If your learner joins while we are in the middle of a book, the teacher will give them a recap of the book that has been read up to that point so they can jump right in and get reading!

Learners will need to get a copy of the book being read each month. Check your local library to borrow a copy from there!

Only teachers trained to teach this class will serve as a possible substitute for the class.
