This class will be using "I See Sam" reading books 1 through 16. The class will be structured to help students sound out easy "beginning reader" words. The students will each get to read the pages of the stories. I will use flashcards to help the students identify the words that are in the books. Students will be able to help each other with the word sounds. My teaching style is a very relaxed learning environment. Positive reinforcement and peer encouragement are part of the learning environment. Theme Words: Book 1. See, I, Sam. Date: May 11 Theme Words: Book 2. I, See, Sam May 13 Theme Word: Book 3. Teacher expertise and credentials
I was a Montessori Preschool Director for 20 years. I love teaching young children and seeing them get them understand the information for the first time. I can teach all the early learning skills: ABC's, beginning reading, phonics, circle songs. I have a Bachelor's in History and Education from Hastings College, in Hastings, Nebraska. I have a Master's in Library Science and History from Emporia State University, Emporia, KS. I also have a Master's in Family Studies and Human Services (Early Education from Birth to 8). My educational philosophy is that all students can learn. Some need to move, some need to listen, some need to feel something. There are many ways to teach I child. I enjoy finding the way that will benefit your child and help increase their learning. For this reason I was recently certified as a Revelation Wellness fitness instructor. It will help me offer classes to help children move constructively while learning.
I love to scrapbook pictures of my family and the different vacations that we go on together. I hope to be able to to a scrapbook class for beginners in the near future. I would love to see your child in class soon! Rhonda Hiebert
