Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 1
Do you love to read or have stories read to you? Is reading new for you? This is an ongoing class where students can share about the books they're reading and hear about new books from their classmates! Students will read a book of their choice each week, and share about that book with the class. If it's a picture book, they are welcome to show us their favorite pictures from the book! They will also learn a different book report style that they will use to share about their book. If you love stories, and always looking for another great book to read, this class is for you!

We will cycle through 4 different book report styles--students have the option to write or draw their book reports! Students can come and go as needed, the books are different each week and we will cycle through the report types in the following order.

Week 1: Students share about one of their favorite books with the class, explaining why they love it.
Week 2 : Students will share about another book, completing a story chart.
Week 3: Students will share about a different book, and draw a story map.
Week 4: Students will share about another book they have read, and create a picture walk.

Hello! I am excited to be your child's teacher.
I love to teach in any capacity: especially reading, writing and grammar classes.

Teaching is my passion! I have been teaching for 23 years everything from early childhood to college & adults. Not only have I taught in elementary schools, but I have been homeschooling my children for the past 12 years and working in several homeschool coops as well. For my career, I teach English as a Second Language to adults.

I am very familiar with the ins and outs of the English language, from the basics of phonics & reading to college writing, and everything in between! (Like past participles 😄) My philosophy of education is that every child can learn! I would love to work with your child and help them succeed! Even if your child is not reading or writing in a way you would like, they are amazing & smart! Education is a tool to help them share what they know with the world! Let's get started!
