In this class, students will dive deep into the ocean as they learn how to draw a whale. Learners will use lines and shapes to draw their whale through step by step instructions while learning fun facts about whales. If time allows, students will be able to color their own whale and show their drawings to the class. One of the best parts about directed drawings is that although we will all follow the same directions, each drawing will look unique and different. What will my child learn? Drawing is the very first step in storytelling and is a gateway to your child being able to write one day. In this class, your child will learn positional words (ex: above, below, left, right, etc.) as well as work on learning how to follow directions, listening skills, spatial development and fine motor skills. Another added benefit is that your child will review vocabulary words such as different shapes, big, small, long, short, etc. I look forward to diving deep into the sea with your child. *****Students may need some extra time outside of class to finish coloring their drawings.******

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been a preschool teacher for over 6 years and directed drawings are one of my favorite activities that we do in my classroom. While learning valuable skills such as listening, spatial awareness, and positional words, students also gain confidence in their creative ability. Drawing is the very first step in storytelling and is a gateway to your child being able to write one day.
