Students will improve their understanding of family heritage and historic food preparation methods. Additionally, students will experience the joy of recreating a recipe that is important to their family.  Food preparation skills such as kitchen safety, cutting, mixing, kneading, cooking , roasting, baking and many more skills will be taught.  If there is class time, a brief history of the foods, era or cooking equipment can be added to the lesson. 

I am a full time Family and Consumer Science educator and I teach Intro to Culinary Arts and Nutrition to Wellness among other life skill classes.  I have extensive experience teaching food preparation methods and I feel very connected to the family members that have gone before me when I prepare a dish or a meal like they once did.  Baking, roasting, kneading dough, making sauce or boiling down fruits or vegetables for a culinary flavor explosion, is my specialty.  I also enjoy history, relating today to yesteryear and helping students understand the importance of family.

Recipe books or the Internet as well as your family recipes will be used.
