US Grade 1 - 4
We will begin our class by talking about DNA, how it works, and discuss real world uses of DNA (such as genetic testing). Students will talk about the four building blocks of DNA and see how they combine. After our discussion, we'll start working on our own DNA code. Using beads to represent each of the bases, we'll use our printed DNA code, find the correct pairing, and build the DNA sequence to represent an actual DNA sequence. Students will be provided with a handout showing half the code of human DNA.
