Class Experience

With an emphasis on the thesis statement, students will learn in great detail on how to write a strong 5-paragraph essay and thesis.

Sample paragraphs of an essay will be provided to serve as an example and demonstration for students. Additionally, we will discuss parts of the essay and its structure: Introduction, Body, and Conclusion. Next, we will learn about the thesis. We will go over how to properly write a strong thesis statement. Each student will be given the chance to write their own thesis statements based on the topic we discussed previously. Students will be shown examples of weak thesis statements versus strong ones. Powerpoint slides will be provided.

5 questions will be addressed:

1. What is a thesis statement?
2. How do you write a strong thesis statement?
3. What is the structure of the introductory paragraph?
4. What is the structure of the body paragraphs?
5. What is the structure of the closing paragraph?

While learning the structure of an essay and thesis statement, students will also learn a variety of tricks and tips for making essay writing more fun, easy, and productive!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi everyone!

I'm Ms. Veronica, not only a passionate teacher- but also a passionate learner. I have a special love for history, politics, psychology, and languages! These are the subjects I will be offering to teach, with a special emphasis on history. Learning about history is not just memorizing dates and times, but also to understand how people truly lived. With a Degree from UOFT I have acquired a lot of knowledge in these areas which I would love to share with others. I have quite some years of teaching experience- where I have taught history, piano, languages, and taught top University Debate Club leaders different debating techniques and styles. I, myself, am a forever student and believe that one can never know too much.

There is so much to learn about the world, so let's get to it!
