Students will understanding the key parts to a paragraph: topic sentence, detail sentences, and concluding sentence. Students will work on developing and strengthening their abilities to write a 5 - 8 sentence paragraph.
I am looking forward to helping your child develop a well-written paragraph. I have taught in the classroom for over 12 years and also worked as an elementary school librarian for 4 years. I enjoy making learning fun and work to engage students in the learning process. My enthusiastic personality and ability to connect with all learners helps to create a positive learning environment. Providing opportunities for student voice and choice gives them ownership over their work. Additionally, with my Master's in Reading as well as my National Board Certification, I am always implementing best practices and literacy to my teaching! This is a great class to build the foundations for writing as a good paragraph can be applied to all subject areas.
Homework Offered
No homework will be assigned but teacher will encourage students with an end of meeting class challenge. This will be a writing assignment that is an optional activity to allow your child to practice skills addressed during that class. Students can share their work at the following class should they complete the task.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
