Beginner Level
This class will meet for 30 minutes once a week for 4 weeks. Students will be introduced to the instructor and each other. In addition, students will be introduced to the CERCA model for writing a great paragraph. The CERCA model is: Claim, Evidence, Reasoning, Counterclaim, and Audience. Students will then have 3 class periods to practice writing with different prompts and instructor feedback.

Students will be able to define the CERCA model for writing a paragraph.Students will be able to write a 5+ sentence organized argumentative or informational paragraph.Syllabus

Introduction and Direct Instruction
Students will be introduced to the instructor and each other. In addition, students will be introduced to the CERCA model for writing a great paragraph. The CERCA model is: Claim, Evidence, Reasoning, Counterclaim, and Audience. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Practice
Students will start the class with reviewing the CERCA model then practice with 2 example prompts. Feedback will be given by the instructor. Optional homework will be given to students who want to practice with an additional writing prompt. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Practice
Students will start the class with reviewing the CERCA model and review optional homework. Then, students will practice with 2 more example prompts. Optional homework will be given to students who want to practice with an additional writing prompt. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
Conclusion and Practice
Students will have one last opportunity to practice the CERCA model with the instructor and get feedback from the instructor. 30 mins online live lesson
