Most students are nervous, develop anxiety, and generally despise test taking. What most people do not know is that test taking is more of a science than an art. This class will take the mystery out of academia.

Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner - Advanced Level
This is a class about how to study and prepare for standardized examinations at the High school and university level. 

The topics covered will include:
1. Textbook Terms & Their Definitions
2. Connect Big Picture Concepts
3. Reading Textbooks
4. Quotations, Citations, References - Encapsulating Points
5. Essay Templates and Structure

This class will be taught through a lecture, followed by questions and practice examples using the student's actually current courses. 

My teaching style is practical in the sense that the student needs to take a hands-on approach with the subject matter. Student interaction is essential for the students to receive the best results from the class. I will make a presentation of each section and explain from my academic experience the mysteries of test construction and marking.

Learning Goals

The learning goals of this class will include a list of strategies that students should practice for each course when preparing for test taking. These strategies will involve how to read textbooks, take notes, and prepare a template for essays.

Supply List
I recommend that students bring their current coursework and current textbooks to class, as we should use them in our practical examples after the class section presentations.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, a Bachelor's Degree in Arts (Political Science), and a Master's Degree in Business Administration. As well, I have worked as a teacher for 5 years. This has given me an understanding of academia, how it works for the ease of the professionals involved, how tests are created, and how tests are marked.
