Class Experience

Please take classes in order: How to learn a Handstand class before the Handstand Balancing class and then take the Handstand Walking class.

Students will learn with live coaching and instructional videos on the body shape of a handstand and progress to a walking on hands in the handstand. The progression to holding the inversion of a handstand then transferring weight through the hands to walk, and the process of tightening the body correctly in order to hold the handstand and walk in the handstand with safe progressions.

The interaction between the coach and gymnast will happen after the group watches the 30-45 sec. instruction from an actual gymnast and then Coach Heather will watch each athlete do the body shape and correct in a way that builds self-esteem.

Coach Heather will show a live demonstration with a gymnast and then watch your gymnast do the skill while instructing them in a positive tone so the athlete can reach the goal of handstand walking.

All the basics of handstand walking are covered so student can understand what needs to happen in order to handstand balance.

Parental Guidance
Must have taken the handstand balancing class. Risk of injury if students are not performing skills correctly. Parental guidance and assistance may be needed. Please make sure proper safety precautions are taken. For example, make sure student is not performing skills next to furniture and has proper matting required for class. This is a risky class because the student does not have a coach at home to work with them on proper form and technique and the potential for injury exists. Parent supervision(adult present during the class) and skills may need to be modified according to skill level, skill, and strength of each student.
