US Grade 6 - 9
Dogs can be afraid of certain people, other dogs or objects. Rescue dogs especially can be afraid and anxious of their new surroundings. They may be intolerant of training using voice and treats. They exhibit stress in various forms such as barking at the person, dog or object. In this 4-week course, students will learn strategies to train their dogs to be calm while in the presence of people, dogs and other objects. We will be using positive dog training and a clicker including the use of food, massage and exploring as a reward. Learners will be instructed in the various signs of stress in their dogs and address those triggers.
