How to Draw: Animal Mashup Summer CAMP! (Cartoon Style for Ages 5 - 8)
In this art camp, learners will draw 2 cartoon animals each class with step-by-step instruction and combine the animals into a mashup animal! We will draw a fly, cat, dog, dolphin, hedgehog, bunny, jellyfish, and parrot.

*Learners who were a part of this camp in 2020 are welcome to join again as our projects are different each year. Each class starts with an introduction on the two animals of the week. We will share some facts we know about the animals. Learners will then draw the animals in cartoon style with step by step instruction using a pencil. Learners can hold up their drawing to receive gentle feedback as they draw. They will then create a MASHUP animal with their imagination. Their drawings will end up being creative, a little silly...but hopefully not scary! Learners will have time to go over their drawing with marker/sharpie before they color their drawing. They will also use their imagination to add an interesting background and make their drawings come to life. Learners are encouraged to share their ideas with the class. We wrap up the drawing by sharing our creations. Class 1: Cly - Fly + Cat Class 2: Dogphin - Dog + Dolphin Class 3: Hedunny - Hedgehog + Bunny Class 4: Jerrot - Jellyfish + Parrot My Classrooms: I require students to "check-in" with their cameras on at least once in my classes for all student's safety (this is Outschool's policy that I am reinforcing). If your child is shy I totally understand (I was a shy kid), they can come to class 2 minutes before the start of the class to say hello with their cameras on and work with their cameras off. I try my best to create a warm and comfortable environment where students can be themselves and aren't afraid to make mistakes. For classes of more than 3 students, I mute everyone's microphone while giving instruction to avoid a noisy environment. Students are encouraged to get creative and customize their artwork based on their own liking throughout the lesson. The most important thing for me is that students are having fun and enjoy expressing themselves.

- At least 2 pieces of paper for each class - A pencil - An eraser - A black Sharpie/Marker - 'Coloring' supplies based on learner's preference (color pencil, markers, crayons etc.)
