Class Experience

Have you ever tried to draw a kitten but didn’t know where to start? Drawing animals can be tricky, but this class will make it easy! In this class we will learn how to draw an adorable little kitten, all while learning some fun facts about our furry friend.

We will start with simple shapes, and soon enough, detail by detail, we will create an amazing drawing of a kitten from head to tail. Each student needs a pencil, eraser, and preferably sketching paper. (Any blank paper can be used if sketching paper is not available.) I will be demonstrating the techniques with my students and working right along with them!

Art is about self expression and learning, and I hope to create a fun, interactive environment where students, no matter how young, can develop a love for drawing while building their confidence in a new skill.

I am a professional artist, specializing in oil portrait paintings, and I have had the privilege of displaying my artwork in venues across the country. I believe that art is about self expression and learning, and I hope to create a fun, interactive environment where students can develop a love for art while building their confidence in a new skill.
I have always struggled with expecting “perfection” of myself, especially in my art, so I am constantly reminding my students, as well as myself, that perfection is not required, and that practice, not unreasonable expectations, is what a advances our skills.
My joy in teaching comes from the comments of my students and their parents, expressing that they created something they didn’t know was possible.
