Average rating:4.5Number of reviews:(22)
In this class we will explore the meanings of healthy vs toxic relationships, learn how to spot a toxic relationship and practice using tools to foster healthy relationships.

Class experience

Students will learn to:
     * Understand the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships and dating scenarios.
     * choose the best ways to communicate to form lasting friendships.
     * stay safe in any situation regarding dating and relationships.
     * how to spot toxic relationships and the resources to help escape them.
My bachelor's degree is in science with majors in psychology, kinesiology and education. My Masters degree is in child psychology and education leadership. I have taught sensitive subjects to middle and high school students for over two decades while working closely with counselors of every sort to ensure their personal progress and success. I have also been trained and have worked with children with special needs including behavioral, physical and mental disorders. My experience, degrees and studies in child and adult psychology together have strengthened my understanding of the mind and hormonal connection to realize what the students truly go through on an everyday basis. Today's students deal with a life in the spotlight in general in this day of technology, let alone the struggles of the world they face every time they look into their phones. I am always mindful of the racing thoughts and hormonal shifts caused by this and their ages.
Homework Offered
Students will be completing short assignments during and after the lessons that simply promote retention and discussion.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Final assessment and certificate will be provided as requested.
Grades Offered
Handouts for each lesson are provided and to be printed or filled out on the computer for submission on the Outschool platform and chat.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Dating violence will be discussed and commonality shown through a short video. This material does not go into graphic detail at all but still may seem to be of sensitive nature to some. If students feel the content too intrusive they may skip the video. If the student becomes upset about the content of the material they can contact me anytime with questions or to discuss their feelings on the matter. I may not be able to respond immediately but will respond as soon as possible.
Note: This is not a therapy course and should not be regarded as a therapeutic practice of any kind.
