Beginning with a song and dance, I will introduce/review the concept of place value to the millions Terminology such as: ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, millions, place value, etc. will all be discussed. I will read "How Much is A Million" by David M. Schwartz, before we create our own place value house. (PDF printout provided before class). A million is a huge and an abstract concept to often comprehend. "If this book had a million tiny stars, they would fill seventy pages, so climb aboard..." This is a great introduction into place value to the millions place, a way to see the abstract in a concrete way, or simply a good review for anyone who needs it.

Hello from Texas! Although I am currently residing in Texas, we move quite often and that has allowed me to have many different types of career experiences. I have tutored privately and through well-known organizations; taught in the public school classroom setting with a self-contained classroom (including 4th grade and Texas History); substituted and interned in private school classroom settings; instructed at the community college level (History); assisted with museum operations; and homeschooled my three munchkins. I have worked with early education all the way up to the community college level. My Bachelors is in childhood education with a Master's in American History.
