In this weekly club meeting, we will talk all about horses. Each week will begin with a theme related to a specific horse breed, riding discipline or equestrian topic chosen by the teacher: a professional horseback rider and farm owner. A few examples of what we will discuss in club: •The real mustang who inspired Spirit and the history of the various bloodlines that formed the herds of wild horses in North America. •All about the three Olympic disciplines of dressage, eventing and jumping. What is required in each sport and what does a gold medal winning round look like? • The Mongolian derby: An overview of one of the most grueling races on horseback in the world.
Learning Goals
As a social club, students will learn about horses as they are given opportunities to discuss their own experiences and how they relate to the topic of the week.
