I will be teaching various topics regarding horsemanship. Topics include: saddling, grooming, tack maintenance and cleaning, caring for horse injuries, riding disciplines, breeds, the gaits of the horse, the disciplines and their backgrounds, famous horses in history, famous riders in history, horse related movies, and student choice. It will be a discussion based class session led by the teacher but mostly student input. Students will hold a conversation with each other regarding horses and their passion for horses. The teacher will provide topics to be covered as well as ask students to bring any horse related materials with them to class. This class is heavy in conversation and will help students develop listening and speaking skills. We will play games, watch video clips, and any other activities suggested by the student or teacher. Learners only need a love for horses.
Learning Goals
Students will learn horsemanship and anything related to horses such as confirmation of the horse, the gaits of the horse, the evolution of the horse, evolution and uses of horse breed, parts of the tack and tack care, caring for horse injuries and illnesses, how and when to find a vet, what to look for in a farrier, what to look for in a riding instructor, how to find a place to board a horse, how to purchase a horse, etc.
