Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner - Advanced Level
This is a great class for students who enjoy sinister stories and ghoulish topics. Each week we will cover a new subject pertaining to Horror, followed closely by a few helpful writing tips to elevate the student's spooktacular stories. Everything meeting's (dark) theme is student/parent requested - My message box is open 24/7 for lesson requests, one-on-one writing feedback (fiction and nonfiction - assignments, speeches, etc. - welcome), one-on-one assistance with individual writing struggles, prompt requests, etc.

Structure for each meeting:

Opening Time:
- 'Flex' Time - This is where students can discuss their weekly writing and ask any questions they may have
- Vocabulary Words - New ones are provided each week and are based on the writing theme

Lesson Time: Time for some stories linked to our malevolent topics and that helpful writing tip.

Writing Time:
This is the student's free time - They can write short stories, add to longer stories, fan fiction, flash fiction, micro fiction, novellas, poems, songs, scripts, artwork for stories, storyboarding, character building, etc.

Share Time:
In-class sharing time is optional - This is where students can receive positive encouragement from their classmates. They are welcome to send their writing to my message box for one-on-one feedback and editing. I am also happy to assist any students whose goal is to publish in the future. (I can provide advice and help the student to create a writing schedule.) I am also very much available to help students who struggle with writer's block and can provide them with activities (upon request).
