If students would like to apply the course towards middle or high school elective credit, a letter grade or P/F can be assigned and I can complete their school’s elective credit application and verification. over 8 WeeksUnit 1: Horse Life Stages, Colors, and Markings
Lesson 1:
Horse Life Stages
Learn essential equine terminology, explore the life stages of a horse, and understand key developmental traits for each life stage.
Lesson 2:
Horse Coat Colors
Identify common horse coat colors and distinguish between various coat color patterns. We will discuss the basic role of genetics in coat color inheritance.
Lesson 3:
Horse Markings
Identify common face and leg markings using correct terminology.
Unit 2: Horse Breeds & Classification
Lesson 4:
Selective Breeding
Students will understand how selective breeding for specific traits led to the creation of over 300 horse breeds. Students will classify traits into color, conformation, function, or disposition.

Learning Needs
Content is thoughtfully designed to cater to the unique needs of students by incorporating various learning styles, including visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. This course is designed to create an inclusive & dynamic learning environment.
Parental Guidance
Working with horses is an inherently dangerous activity. If students have access to practicing and applying course content directly with a horse, it should only be done so with a supervising, experienced adult.
Supply List
Students will receive a course packet that includes guided notes and worksheets to assist with content engagement, understanding, and retention. Please print the materials prior to starting the course so students have materials available.
