Teacher expertise and credentials
Colorado Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree in Education from University of Colorado, Denver
My goal as an educator is to inspire a love of lifelong learning and to hold students accountable to their individual highest potential until they are able to hold this view for themselves. I have 14 years of experience in various educational settings, including elementary education, high school extracurricular coach and choreographer, volunteer in preschool classrooms, and online as a teacher of English as a second language. I hold a BA in Elementary Education through the University of Colorado at Denver and a current Colorado State Professional Teaching License.

I love fostering a lifelong love of reading. I offer classes for students in phonics, reading comprehension and reading fluency. I also love helping students enjoy and understand math and science. I offer classes structured to improve number sense, math fluency, and problem solving, and critical thinking. My teaching style is marked by patience, gentleness, and genuine interest for those in my care. Children will always be encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, and enjoy learning! My greatest asset as a teacher is adapting quickly to the needs and skills of my students.

Beyond teaching, I am a fully invested mother of two, and happily married wife. I love to knit, read, take walks with my doggie and play board games with my kids. I currently reside in Arvada, Colorado.

Policies:

1) I aim to keep classes close to the scheduled amount of time, however, classes with low enrollments or especially talkative students may run a few minutes under or a few minutes over.

2) Classes will begin at the scheduled time, even if all learners are not in the classroom (unless there appears to be a technical issue). I will not contact absent learners during class time so I can focus on the learners who are present.

3) If no learners are in the classroom, I will wait 10 minutes before exiting the classroom. In this situation, I will contact the families after I have left the classroom to discuss next steps.
