Assessment
At the parent’s request, I can give an assessment to determine what areas of focus your child needs support in. I am also happy to give feedback about completed assignments.

Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 3
In this ongoing class, your learner will be able to get individualized assistance to help them with their current ELA or math curriculum.

Some sample topics I can give in English language arts include: beginning and intermediate phonics, decoding, early reading skills, grammar work, word study, writing skills, and handwriting.

In the subject of math, I can offer customized assistance in such areas as beginning and intermediate addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, time concepts, money and multi step word problems.

If your child needs support during the school year with assignments or help preparing for assessments, I would love to give them the support they need to be successful!

Before our sessions begin, it’s requested that I be given information about what your child is currently working on. I’d love to get to know your child’s strengths and areas for growth. If you can send any pictures of specific work that would be very helpful. Sending the work to me the day before will help me prepare and make the most effective use of our time together.

I am a very student centered teacher and strive to support students by meeting them at their instructional level. I am happy to adjust to a pace that is comfortable for your child, so they are challenged but not frustrated. If they need supplemental work, I’m glad to provide that as well. My goal is to help give your child a deeper understanding of the skill they are practicing, thereby boosting their confidence!

Please make sure your learner has their work with them for our class and any other materials needed. I look forward to meeting and helping your child!

Hello! I am so excited to teach your kiddos on Outschool! I have a degree in Elementary Education and have been teaching over 20 years. I also have a specialty Montessori certificate in grades 1-3, and a TESOL certification credential. For nine years I specialized as a learning Title I learning support teacher with a focus in reading and writing in the language arts curriculum with 5-9 year olds. I have taught 1st and 2nd grade in a Montessori classroom. I love helping children learn to read by teaching the fundamental skills of early reading, grammar and writing. I also teach many cultures themed lessons for learners where we can enjoy exploring topics of our planet and space together!
I love to help children learn and be successful in the classroom through fun and engaging activities. I like to make classes challenging and rewarding for students, and I have a very student centered approach, which is aligned with the Montessori teaching philosophy. I think of myself as a guide, who always strives to meet children at their instructional level.
Outside of teaching, I am a mother of adult boy/girl twins. My husband and I have a senior rescue terrier named Sandy and we love to go for long walks. I also enjoy living a very healthy lifestyle which includes walking, hiking, yoga, running and enjoying nature whenever possible!
Thank you for taking the time to find out more about me. I hope to see your child in the classroom soon!
