Hey hey, it's Game Day! Come meet new friends for games and chat! Bring your own hangout snack. Paper and pen/cil will be needed for some games. In some games you will need to print out an attachment that I will post in our classroom. We will play ice-breaker games to get to know one another, and then we will play online group games and tabletop games that translate well to a Zoom room. Possible games: Scattergories, a fast-thinking game of words and categories. Players roll the virtual letter die, flip the virtual sand timer, and race against the clock to come up with answers to each category on the category list. Score points for writing down answers that no one else did. The more creative the answers, the more points scored! Is it an animal? A person? A thing? Playing a guessing game at a party? It's got to be Pictionary. In Pictionary the laughs just keep coming as you'll find out who's an artist and who really isn't. If teammates are having a tough time figuring out the sketch, the player drawing can try a different direction. In this game, the guesses can be just as funny as the drawings. Players use the on-screen draw function to draw their best interpretation of the clue on the word they have been given with just a minute to spare. Every player gets to show their artistic skills as each player takes turns to draw. This fun game is low-stress and gets people laughing! BINGO! Our Bingo game will be fun and based on seasonal ideas and things tweens and teens find interesting: books, movies, music, history, animals, hobbies, and famous people. No two games will be the same. I will post a printable Bingo sheet for each no later than two days before class. Blindfold Doodle Challenge. Like Pictionary but even more silly, learners will get drawing prompts and have to do them blindfolded or with eyes closed. It's a hoot to be the guessers and to be the artist in this ridiculous, funny game. I strive to create a warm and non-competitive atmosphere where kids feel comfortable and at ease. I like tailoring questions and games to group's interests when possible. I aim to be a good party host who can draw out my shy guests and help everyone find things that they have in common.

Teacher expertise and credentials
When I’m not teaching youth and littles, I work as a health- and life coach with a passion for supporting moms, teens, and children. In my capacity as a coach I’ve led groups and taught classes and workshops on health, wellness, ecology, resilience, and joy for over 10 years.
As it has for everyone, the Covid era has made even more clear to me just how important positive connection is for kids and teens. I'm grateful to Outschool for being an avenue for making friends and developing positive relationships in the lives of our young people.
