What's included
Class Experience
US Grade 4 - 7
*This class is built very similar to my ongoing Let's Travel The World Together class, but it offers the flexibility of schedule for those that cannot attend the scheduled times or cannot commit to a fix schedule every week. In this FLEX class we will discover the World one holiday at a time. We will cover the following holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter (material taught will retain a secular view). As we learn about these traditions, learners will be encouraged to find the country in question on the map, Geography lovers' treat. Countries covered in this class will include: Mexico, Japan, China, Ireland, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany and more. Each week the following materials will be provided: - Pre-recorded video of new information (each week we will speak about a different holiday and the traditions that different countries have for them) - Link to Self-Passed Nearpod presentation to be followed while watching the video - Kahoot Game PIN Learners will be asked to watch the video while following along in the Nearpod presentation. In Nearpod slides they will be asked to: - share any previous knowledge about the holiday in question, if any (they can type their response or record a short video or audio recording) - participate in polls, quizzes, virtual field trips, and other activities After covering the new material, they will be asked to play a Kahoot game (to check the retention of the new information in a fun, engaging way). Additionally learners will be asked to upload their answers OR videos of themselves speaking about holiday traditions in their family and their country, traditions that they found to be the most interesting or unique, and choose one of the countries discussed where they would like to travel to for the specific holiday. Learners in the class will be encouraged to communicate with each other by commenting on other learner's submissions as well. In this class we will cover the following holidays: - Halloween (topics covered will include: costumed festivals in other countries, typical foods to eat during this holiday, games being played by children in other countries, Dracula's castle on Halloween) - Thanksgiving (topics covered will include: parades and festivals in other countries, typical foods to eat during this holiday, activities completed by children in other countries, family cooking traditions) - Christmas (topics covered will include: Christmas markets in other countries, costumed parades, typical foods to eat during this holiday, games played by children in other countries) - Easter (topics covered will include: festivals in other countries, typical foods to eat during this holiday, games played by children in other countries) - all information is being taught secularly. See you soon, travelers! Note: This class will discuss holiday traditions around the world, but will not promote or advocate a particular religious worldview. We will speak about things like: traditional dishes, costumes and festivities, games being played, and other.
