Week 1Lesson 1What Makes a Holiday Movie?In this lesson, you will learn what makes holiday movies so special and use those elements to make a plan for your own holiday movie.
This class satisfies the ELA standards: W.3a-e, W.4, W.5, W.6, and W.10 - Orient the reader by establishing a situation and introducing characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally. - Use dialogue and description to develop experiences and events or show the responses of characters to situations. - Use concrete words and phrases and sensory details to convey experiences and events precisely. - Provide a conclusion that follows from the narrated experiences or events. - Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development and organization are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.
I have taught the writing process in my 3rd and 4th grade classes and adapted them for a filmmaking club at my former school. Prior to becoming a teacher, I had worked on independent films and attended film school.
