History of the Samurai

Welcome to History of the Samurai. This twelve-week course will closely examine the Japanese warrior class of Samurai. Throughout this course, students will learn about how this class of warriors developed, and the impact that the Samurai had on Japanese history. This class will be presented on a weekly basis with the aid of a powerpoint slideshow, as well as various critical thinking prompts to help engage students and facilitate discussion. All teachers associated with Military History 101 by Amber Dowdy have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in history or another social studies related topic. All current instructors have experience in different educational settings including museums and classrooms. Teachers with this organization have presented issues of war and other conflict to students of all ages. All content is historically contextualized and fact-based.
Homework Offered
Students will learn about the history of the Samurai, as well as the impact that Samurai had on Japanese history0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

No sensitive content will be discussed in detail throughout this course. At times, samurai deaths may be mentioned. Any discussion of the loss of samurai will be historically contextualized and fact-based.
