Have you ever listened to the musical Hamilton and had a desire to learn more? This is the class for you! We will explore the life of Alexander Hamilton through the lens of the popular musical, expanding upon many of the areas that were only briefly mentioned. We expand upon topics such as how Hamilton got to America, his real age, his relationship with his friends and the Schuylers, and his political downfall. It is not necessary, but it may be helpful for some students to have access to the musical lyrics during class. As this class is based around Hamilton: An American Musical, the class flows most smoothly if the student has listened to the songs before class. Both of these resources can be found online for free.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Although Hamilton is a musical that can be enjoyed by all ages, it does deal with some more mature themes. There is explicit language and adult content throughout the musical, but it is not discussed during class.
