In this one time class, students will learn about the Great Famine of Ireland and its effects on the Irish people and the world.
Class experience
In this one time class, students will learn about The Great Famine of Ireland. Between 1845-1852, Ireland potato crops were infested with a fungus which caused the potatoes to rot, leaving many of the people without food and often times destitute. The famine causing over 1 million people to die and over 2 million to flee Ireland for North America. We will further explore the historical and political consequences for Great Britain (which ruled Ireland until 1912). Students will discuss what...
We will discuss sensitive topics such as starvation and political upset. This will be presented in an informational and unbiased way.
