High School Life Science: Full Year Curriculum

This ongoing course will provide your high school student with an in-depth understanding of various biological and life science topics in a fun and engaging way!

What's included

1 live meeting
45 mins in-class hours per week
Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students will be assigned various activities and assignments throughout the course. These assignments will include online simulations, presentations and projects.

Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
This course will cover in-depth life topics in a hands-on and engaging way! Real-world problems, situations, and problem-based learning will drive student inquiry throughout this course. Students will have multiple opportunities to interact with other students and me throughout this course in order to get the most out of their online experience. 

Students will meet for a live meeting once a week for instruction, demonstrations, group work, and experiments. The rest of the week will provide students the opportunity to complete optional homework, projects, and labs.

Students will have multiple performance assessments throughout the course in order to assess their understanding in addition to problem-based learning projects and experiments.

November 6: Diversity of Plants
November 13: Plant Structure and Function
November 27: Reproduction in Plants

Vertebrates
December 4: Fish and Amphibians
December 11: Reptiles and Birds
December 18: Mammals
January 8: Animal Behavior

The Human Body
January 15: Protection, Support, and Locomotion
January 22: The Digestive and Endocrine Systems
January 29: The Nervous Systems
February 5: Respiration, Circulation, and Excretion
February 12: Reproduction and Development
February 19: Immunity and Disease

Due to the fact that this is an ongoing course, students who are already taking Biology or Life Science can enroll for additional support and practice. Homeschooled students can enroll in a complete Life Science curriculum. Students are charged weekly and can enroll or unenroll at any time. 

Students will meet once a week for a live lesson. After these lessons, students will be given several options to complete for homework for the week including worksheets, labs, and projects.
