Class Experience

will be teaching high school level art, ideal for portfolio building and high school students who want some extra art in their lives.

When I teach I lead by example. This means that I draw and paint along with the learners. I will demonstrate different techniques and explain the process as we embark on our creative journey. I make myself available for questions throughout the class. I always mute my classes but I encourage learners to unmute themselves if and when they need help.

Learners who take this as an ongoing class will develop as artists over time and learn a variety of drawing and design skills.

I will demonstrate a variety of drawing techniques and focus on creative thinking. This class is meant to be a follow of the original “High School Art and Portfolio Development part 1” and or Part 1class I teach, but that is not a prerequisite.

This class can accommodate all skill levels. This being said, more experience with art will likely result in more polished artwork. I do my best to remind students that art is not a competition, but rather an individual journey. As artists, we should not measure ourselves against others. All we can do is try to be better than we were were the day before.

WEEK 2: storyboard part 1
WEEK 3: storyboard part 2
WEEK 4: design a book or movie cover

WEEK 6: illustrate a children’s story part 2

WEEK 14: Final Project

Students should have some drawing and painting experience before taking this class. Ideally learners will have taken my first “high school art and portfolio development” class before this one, but this is not necessary. I recommend this class for high school students excited about becoming better artists and anyone interested in pursuing art college.
Learning Goals
Everyone should learn basic graphic design. Learners will also learn more about conceptual thinking, and illustration.
