Class Experience

In this introductory course, your student will be introduced to Henri Matisse and his popular works. The best way to learn about history and art is to combine them! I will introduce your learner to the artist and a few of his best pieces of art. We will talk about the shapes and colors we see, and what type of material the artist used.
We will then move on to create our own pieces inspired by Henri Matisse. The basis of my instruction is to show your learner the actual artistic process, and sprinkling in fun facts about the Henri Matisse along the way.
Learning Goals
By the end of this class, your child will have a fun and creative piece of art to be proud of.
The goal of this class is to learn, engage, and have the best time possible!

We will improve our hand-eye coordination through cutting shapes and arranging them on larger pieces of paper.

Your child will also walk about with new and interesting knowledge about a prolific and influential painter.

Parental Guidance
This class does require the use of scissors.
Supply List
-Safety scissors for cutting - make sure they are able to cut through construction paper efficiently! I've found that many of my student get easily frustrated with bad scissors.
-A variety of colorful construction paper.
-Safe use glue (this can be Elmers school glue in liquid or stick form - I've found the sticks to be much less messy!)
-Washable markers - a variety of colors is best.
