Come celebrate Valentine's Day with us while we sort hearts and make patterns! Sorting and making patterns are one of the foundations for a child's math skills. In this class, I will introduce the concept of BIG and little. We will make our bodies BIG and little and then compare them to the hearts in two sizes, big and little. We will also identify two colors, red and pink. We will discuss these different categories of hearts and sort them. Then, we will practice making patterns with big and little and red and pink. I always integrate songs, rhyming, and movement in all of my lessons. Children are encouraged to wear red or pink if they like!

Supply List
Printable "hearts" will be provided. You can print and cut these out prior to the lesson so your child will have manipulatives to sort with. You can also make your own hearts if you'd like! This is optional and children can still participate without manipulatives.

External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
I'm so glad you are here! My name is Miss Laura and I'm from Pennsylvania, USA. I have a Master's degree in Elementary Education, a K-6 teaching certification, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Child Development. I am also a Licensed Behavioral Specialist, and have worked with children with autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD, and other special needs for the last 15 years.
I have loved working with children since the age of 12, when I started volunteering at my local library's story hour. Since then, I have had many different titles - nanny, tutor, camp counselor, theater teacher, to name a few - but they have all involved teaching children in some way.
In my classes, first and foremost, expect laughs and smiles! I always try to include movement and songs and love to make up rhymes to help kids learn. I believe in helping children make connections to their daily lives in all my lessons.
My classes will focus on building every day life skills and learners of ALL abilities are welcome. I believe in the importance of teaching children how to understand their emotions in all types of situations in this crazy world! Then, they can learn to manage their own thoughts, feelings, and actions and be their best, most independent selves!
When I'm not working, I am spending time with my husband and two children. I can often be found outside - sitting in the sun reading a good book or going for a run are two of my favorite things to do! I also love coffee, chocolate, the color hot pink, and my two cats.
* Low enrollment classes: I will always happily teach to one learner! In the case of only one learner in the class, I will assume you would like me to continue you with the class unless you contact me and inform me otherwise!
* No shows: I will wait 10 minutes in the classroom before exiting.
* Discounts: If I am providing you a refund as a "discount" via Facebook, etc., I will provide that as soon as the class ends.
* Sections: If there is a class you are interested in but do not see a time/ day that works for you, feel free to reach out and ask!
Hope to see you soon!
