30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This class will teach learners how to make healthy and delicious plant-based smoothie bowls. We will learn about how to put fruity ingredients together to make something wonderful that can be eaten as a meal or a snack. Learners will prepare their smoothie bowls alongside the teacher while watching live demonstration video. Teacher will be able to also observe learners as they make their own smoothie bowls and interact with learners accordingly. Learners will need to have a set-up that allows them to prepare their smoothies in the kitchen while simultaneously being on the live Zoom class. Some prefer to bring their laptops or tablets into the kitchen and set it up where they can see the class and also be seen by the class if desired. You may also elect to simply join the class to watch and learn and then recreate the recipe at a later time if desired. Students will need to have the following list of supplies to be able to participate: -A high speed blender like a Vitamix is recommended or a food processor will work too (food processor won't make a smooth blend, but it will still be yummy) -A 12 ounce bag of frozen fruit of your choice, you may need more if you plan to make a large batch to share with others (I like raspberries, passionfruit, dragon fruit, or pineapple) -1 to 2 pieces of fresh fruit (ripe bananas with some black spots work well here but if you don't like them choose something else) -4 to 6 ounces or more of liquid of your choice (I like pure coconut water, fresh orange juice, or fresh apple juice---water will work too!) -3 or more dates depending on how sweet you like your smoothie (pitted dates if you can find them, if not, I will show you how to pit the others) -fresh toppings of your choice (this can be fruit like strawberries, blueberries, mango, etc.) -dried toppings of your choice (this can be almond slices, goji berries, cranberries, cacao nibs, coconut shreds, or anything else you like) -Spices of your choice (Optional---can be cinnamon powder, cacao powder, carob powder, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla powder, etc.) Note: Bananas are typically best for making creamy smoothies that have body. If you omit the frozen or fresh banana, which is okay, you will have a sorbet-type smoothie with less creaminess. Alternatively, you could also elect to use some plant-based plain yogurt to give your smoothie more body if you don't want to use bananas. I look forward to making smoothie bowls with you!
