🌺ALOHA! Did you know that there are eight main Hawaiian islands? Learn about the real Hawaii from a real Local Wahine, Hula Dancer, and Certified Teacher. During this weekly ongoing class, students of all ages (between seven and twelve years old) will have the opportunity to learn about Hawai'i the 50th Aloha State in America. 📚Multi subjects incorporated; Social Studies, Culture, The Arts, Reading, Writing, and Dance. 🌴Straight from the islands, learn from a Local Wahine and Certified Teacher. I have grown up on the oldest Hawaiian Island, Kauaʻi this allows me to share from my heart the beauty, culture, and adventures waiting for you through this class. In Hawai'i, children address their elders by Auntie/Uncle. I, Auntie Sandra will introduce and teach on topics that will fascinate their minds and I bring real-life knowledge from my own personal experiences. I welcome all questions and will always get back to the learners with answers to their curiosities. 🖥I will utilize PowerPoint presentations, photos, and video clips, this often keeps students engaged through the content. Class is lecture-directed and I welcome questions and comments to keep our learning momentum strong. I will keep the discussion moving forward to include not only a Social Studies focus but also teach the importance of Aloha. I invite the learners to participate by reading out loud and also sharing any personal connections about the content that Iʻm teaching. 🌈I believe learning is memorable when students have fun and make connections to the content. As a local island wahine, I'm a mother of nine and I have four grandsons. I enjoy traveling and experiencing different cultures and food. I have a Masters Degree in Education and more importantly, I believe that knowledge is power. Helping build knowledge within our children is a blessing that I feel fortunate I can do virtually with you all. 💫Each class will begin with an ʻŌlelo Noʻeau which are proverbs, or wise and poetical sayings that are commonly used when speaking Hawaiian. At the end of class, I will close with a special little song/chant that is in Hawaiian, ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi. Student reflections as time allow capturing the learning of the day. 🗓 Learning Topics Week of Aug 13: All About Hawaii Week of Aug 20: Hawaiian Flowers (No Class Aug 27) Week of Sept 3: Culture and Life Week of Sept 10: Animals that live in Hawaii (Part 1) Week of Sept 17: Animals that live in Hawaii (Part 2) Week of Sept 24: Favorite Foods in Hawaii Week of Oct: Hawaiian Vocabulary (Part 1) Week of Oct: Hawaiian Vocabulary (Part 2) Week of Oct: Hawaiian Volcano Week of Oct:Hawaiian Plants 💕My Class Rules: We share kindness and respect in every class.
