Hi there, my name is Karen Willow! Welcome to the Harry Potter Book Club: Magical Creatures discussion!

Do you love reading "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them"? This is the class for you! Each week we will focus on two magical creatures from the Harry Potter books. Learn the biology, literature significance, and plot-line of some of your favorite creatures from the Harry Potter book series. Students will discuss these creatures in depth and dive into the book passages to learn more about these magnificent creatures. Terrified of the Basilisk, Werewolf, and Troll? Captivated by the Phoenix and Dragon? In awe of the Unicorn's beauty, the Centaur's knowledge, and the Merperson's mysteriousness? Join in conversation with like-minded magical animal lovers. From Ron Weasley's battle with a troll in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", to the first Triwizard Tournament challenge in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", you can bet to talk all about the impactful themes and events from the books.

WARNING: Spoilers from books may be spoken!

Each week, we will begin class with a "get to know you" conversation where students will share about themselves and their opinions on topics from the book series. After this, we'll identify our creatures of the week and then analyze as we discuss each fantastic beast in detail.

Weekly breakdown:
Week 1: Unicorns and Werewolves

Week 2: Phoenixes and Centaurs

Week 3: Basilisks and Merpeople

Week 4: Trolls and Dragons
