Beginner Level
The students will listen to some NEW YEAR poems. The students will be encouraged to discuss the poems along the way. The students will then use their listening skills and creativity to make a teacher directed crown. They will use their fine motor skills to fold and cut and color to create a fancy paper plate crown. They will use their creative skills to create patterning to decorate the crown with markers, colored pencils, crayons or stickers. If the students feel comfortable, they will have a chance to share their finished crown with their friends. We will end the class by wearing our crowns and having a Happy New Year crown parade. Happy New Year!

Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.
My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕
I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power.
However, I always incorporate math, writing, drawing, social studies and science into all of my lessons, as well.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw. Let's get started!
Enroll your Early Childhood Education student and your child will further develop an academic foundation and gain academic confidence with a love of learning. Your child will be a life time reader!
Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you are looking for different times or dates for classes.
I can't wait to work with you and your child and further a passion for learning!
