Happy Birthday, Virginia! This state turns 235 years old on June 25th. (We will be celebrating on Monday, June 22nd since I don't teach on Sundays.) To celebrate, we will briefly explore what makes this state great. Students will learn about Virginia's capital, age and birthday, nickname, motto, and state bird/mammal/flower. Together, we will also briefly explore the symbolism of the state's seal and flag. We will also listen to Virginia's state song and learn some interesting facts. Class...

I will be screen sharing two Youtube videos that I have embedded into my PowerPoint. We will listen to interesting fun facts from the National Geographic Kids channel and listening to the official state song with the DN Anthems Youtube channel.
We will be learning the state's nickname and motto, which are found on Virginia's official website. We will also be learning about the state mammal, flower, and bird which can be found in the same place. We will color in the state flag, also found on the state website. We will listen to interesting fun facts, and listening to the official state song with the DN Anthems Youtube channel.
