In this one-time class, we will celebrate Minnesota's birthday by learning about it's symbols, discussing its flag and state seal, listening to the state song, and discovering interesting state facts.

Happy Birthday, Minnesota! This state turns 164 years old on May 11th. To celebrate, we will briefly explore what makes this state great. Students will learn about Minnesota's capital, age and birthday, nickname, motto, and state bird/mammal/flower. Together, we will also briefly explore the symbolism of the state's seal and flag. I will be screen sharing two Youtube videos that I have embedded into my PowerPoint. We will listen to 5 interesting fun facts created by the academic Youtube channel, Studies Weekly, and listening to the official state song with the DN Anthems Youtube channel.
We will be learning the state's nickname and motto, which are found on Minnesota's official website. We will also be learning about the state mammal, flower, and bird which can be found in the same place. We will color in the state flag, also found on the state website. We will listen to 5 interesting fun facts created by the academic Youtube channel, Studies Weekly, and listening to the official state song with the DN Anthems Youtube channel.
