Beginner Level
In Handwriting for Beginners: Uppercase Formation Flexible Schedule students will gain the foundational skills needed with handwriting to be successful with producing legible writing. This is a flexible schedule course so students will not meet live. Students will watch a 20-30 minute video to learn handwriting warm-ups, directional terms needed for letter placement, tips to size letters appropriately, and they will learn how to form letters correctly. Learners will be given access to a handwriting workbook attachment that they can print off. It will follow along with the videos. Within the videos I will incorporate singing and full-body movement activities to help learners grasp and retain concepts. After the learner has watched that week's pages/letters, they will upload their work for the teacher to view and give feedback as needed. Students are also encouraged to upload pictures or videos of themselves participating in learning songs and learning activities inside the classroom. I love to see students having fun while learning!! Students should be able to hold a pencil comfortably and should be able to trace letters before taking this class. It is helpful if the student can identify each letter of the alphabet, but it is not required. The flexible schedule version of my class is ideal for students who prefer to go at a slower/quicker pace, need extra breaks, or are in a different time zone and could not take the live class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to use appropriate letter formation with writing uppercase letters. This helps improve their writing legibility and can improve writing speed as they get older. This class, in the flexible schedule form, allows students to self pace, take breaks as needed, and participate on their family's schedule.

Supply List
I will provide a workbook prior to class for each video session. Please print this off if possible, because we will work through it together in the videos. Also students will need a pencil, extra paper, and play-dough. If you have a small dry erase board with expo markers, you can have that with you as well.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I am trained as an Occupational Therapist and I have worked with children in clinic as well as in the school setting. Many times, I see children struggling with handwriting whether they have a disability or not. It can be because they are uninterested, they have hand weakness, or because they simply have not learned proper formation. This class focuses on teaching proper letter formation, which can help a child for a lifetime in developing legible writing and faster writing speed. While I am an Occupational Therapist, this class is not a therapy session. If your child has severe weakness or apparent development delays, it is best to speak with your pediatrician to determine the best options for them.
