Hands On Art History: Summer Camp
Ever wonder how some of the greatest artists hanging in art galleries created their work or what inspired them to make it? In this class you will become an art historian and explore creating like them too!
This class is intended to be a two week class that will meet Monday-Friday for an hour an a half a day. Each day will start with a brief art history lesson on the artist highlighted that day, this may include examples of their work, virtual tours through an art gallery that features this artist, or a fictional children's book about them! After the history lesson, students will be lead through a meaningful project that either touches on the medium used by the artist or involves the same...
During this summer class students will have the opportunity to learn about 10 different individual artists starting in the 1800's through current modern artists. Through learning about these 10 artists students will learn about different movements throughout art history. Students will learn and get to experiment with different art mediums from acrylic paint to oil pastels. We will work in paint and collage. Students will learn different art vocabulary as well as the proper way to care and clean art supplies.

I also like to remind parents that acrylic paint does stain, even I wear an apron when I create! Students are encouraged to wear an apron, over-sized old t-shirt or smock.
