Join us for a spook-tacular Halloween cooking class where kids make treats from scratch. Kids learn about healthy whole-food ingredients and Halloween baking & decorating in one. Because healthy eating begins in the kitchen!

Class Experience

Kids learn to make Halloween treats (With nutrient-dense tricks!) from scratch using basic whole-food ingredients. Kids learn kitchen safety, food knowledge, prepping, cooking, keeping clean (hello!) & kitchen confidence to last a lifetime. Young chefs show up in this  90 minute live and interactive class with ingredients semi-prepped and ready to cook.

Parental Guidance
Parental guidance recommended for the safety of learners who are not familiar with tools and equipment in their kitchen for this lesson such as a microwave and heating food.

INGREDIENTS:
Fresh strawberries 
White cholcate chips
Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Coconut oil in a jar

Optional healthy mix-ins:
Crushed nuts
Dried fruit
Shredded Coconut
Pumpkin Seeds
Etc...

Microwave
Small ziplock bags
Toothpicks
Sheet tray or large plate
Parchment paper or plastic wrap 
Small glass or ceramic microwave proof bowl to heat chocoalte. (not plastic)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Alison Caldwell holds a master’s degree in Food Studies from New York University.  Alison has been speaking and teaching about good  food and cooking to adults and children, all over the globe, since 2010.  Alison has trained at the Alice Waters Edible Schoolyard Academy;  a program for educators to learn and create powerful and sustainable edible education programs in their schools and communities.  Alison is the former lead instructor and curriculum developer at the Boys & Girls Club of San Dieguito's, Center for a Healthy Lifestyle.
