Create an x-ray of your own hand! This lesson is a combination of science and art. Students will be using simple materials: a piece of construction paper, crayon, q-tip, some vegetable oil, and of course, their hand. I will take them step by step while talking about the bones in our hands and why they are important. We will try to feel our bones in our hands and talk about why we need them. While the x-rays are drying, we will compare and contrast pictures of bones from different animal skeletons and try to guess what animal it is. I will provide a handout upon enrollment if you would like to take the lesson even further. Students can hang their x-ray in a window when it's finished drying.
